This is an attempt to share the secrets many wonderful people have shared with me, coupled with my life experiences and joined together with you to see if we have anything in common or that you may be able to identify with.
It has amazed me since early on, how different we all are yet how much we are all alike in so many ways. The alikeness is the human qualities we share; we are all flesh and blood and not machines. We have our own uniqueness; no one in the world is the same as anyone else. Look at our fingerprints, just like snowflakes, they are all unique… No one, and I mean no one, has the exact finger prints as you do. We are special, unique and one of a kind.
So why do we sometimes think we are all alike and attempt to be a one size fits all kind of person? Some of us don't know we are unique and then spend eons of wasted time yelling from the roof tops….I AM ME and NOT YOU. Why do we have to yell it, sell it, and tell it?
Funny thing is once we get it, we got it and we are it. We can just be. Once we “just be” who we are a platform is created to listen and learn from others. It is so important to listen and learn; to ask questions and discover and find those pearls that are unique to the next guy and gal. Even our kids….they interface with people and learn and discover and bring even more value.
There are tools to assist people to better understand themselves and their partners, kids, mates, etc. It is a tough world out there and sometimes we judge it harshly. Just because someone is different than you or me, does not make them wrong. Judgements of others comes from fear of the unknown. Like OPINIONS. Opinions are empty thoughts. Unless the opinion is backed by facts then they are nothing more than a fleeting thought and can be dangerous.
I spoke to a scientist from Japan while he was working on a project here in the USA. He said it has been difficult for him in our country as we jump to conclusions with our opinions without any evidence. "In Japan," he said, “we take our time through prudence and we form an opinion based on facts”.
Why do some people make lots of dollars and others struggle? What makes us different? What are some of the unique ways of being or doing to create more abundance? I am not saying that I have an answer to these riveting, maybe obvious, but also mind boggling questions, however the answers to them are within us. It is like a sleeping giant; many have written about it, many have lectured about it, many have lived it and many will never even know it exists.
So, you want to make some real dollars? What do you know about money? Look at your life now. If you were to measure the value of your time and the cost of time professionally, how would you buy an hour from yourself? What would you pay for that hour? When would you use that hour and how would you use it? Would you share the hour? Would you keep that hour to yourself? Where would you get the cash to pay for that hour? What is your time worth?
Over the years in the coaching arena, I’ve had the good fortune to work as a monomaniac and eat up all my time diluting its value because I didn’t have a clearly defined roadmap. Most of us don’t. We get up in the morning and hit the road running all day and into the night. We work harder in this nation than any other country in the world. 64% of us are living from pay check to pay check. WHY?? Cause we don’t have a clue about the hidden secret to attract to us what we want. That’s right. You are in the driver’s seat. You are the master of your fate and you decide your destination. How you get there is another issue. The pathways are many and the choices are huge, but in the end, the destination is what you decide on ahead of time. That’s it in a nutshell. Oh, go ahead you say, I’ve heard all this before! And you are absolutely right!!
So, when you heard it before, did you take a deep breath, sheet of paper, look at the seven areas of life and sit there like it is 10 years from today and describe your life? I bet not. Most don’t or don’t know how. The process takes some major thinking. Earl Nightingale and I were walking down the hallways of Hynes Auditorium in Boston, MA just before he was to give one of his last public appearances before his passing in 1989. He moaned as we walked and shook his head and said, “Oh brother, another speech! I’ll tell you Lynette, I am walking into a room with 1000 people eager to hear words that could propel them to good fortune and I will also tell you that the number of people in that room that know what they want … well you could fit them in a phone booth.” Let’s see, for you young ones….. a phone booth used to be a common place item. It was about 4 foot square and 7 feet tall. But I took his words literally and knew exactly what he meant. Taking charge of one’s life is a scary thing to think about.
Taking charge is about the Knowledge of U, or knowing yourself.
Build a U Plan by asking yourself: What do I want? This is abBig question for a human. So, let’s fantasize a little.
First, we’ll want to get ready.
Close your eyes. Take three deep breaths and while you are doing that, run your thumb over the tips of your fingers and wiggle your toes. Keep breathing…..
Now that will take you about 45 seconds. Go ahead, you’re worth it and I am not kidding you, this small doing thing will bring you into the present. Just do it.
Can you hear it? The sounds around you? I’m sitting on a plane right now and I can hear the magazine page being flipped next to me, the motor of the plane, a man talking, a baby laughing, someone coughing…. so much more. Just be with it for a second and let your mind drift for about 30 seconds and listen. Can you feel your breathing, your heart beat, your energy?
Come on, we are almost there….
WHOA, sometimes the visions are so beautiful and other times I see a new car, an ocean, a person laughing (me).
Imagine being 3 years from today, how old will you be? Where will you live.
It all becomes easier once we put a map in front of you, so focus on the seven aspects of life:
- Financial
- Career
- Family
- Social
- Spiritual
- Mental
- Physical
I bet you can think of some more things you would like to see inside of 3 years in those areas. Each are like visiting a city on a vacation. When I go to the Financial City, what do I want to see there. Most likely that city could hold many different things to many different people. For some of us it could mean money and power. For others it could mean security and safety. Whatever pops into your mind….write it down.
WRITE IT DOWN?? She didn’t tell me about that one!! I know, I forgot to tell you what I learned from top athletes, scholars, business men and women and super charged people that are measured in the top 13% of the country’s income earners. They write down their future. This one is huge. Pick up a pen, pencil, iPad, or computer keyboard and start writing. The sooner you get it down, the sooner the future you visualize will become your reality.
