During COVID, I, Lynette M. Robbins, picked up colored pencils and drew a portrait of Ted from that photograph, hoping to capture the look I never wanted to forget.
Ted was a world-class drummer. He began his musical career with Capitol Records, was part of an opening act for The Jackie Gleason Show, and played with Wayne Cochran and the C.C. Riders and the Rondels in the 1960s. Music brought him joy throughout his life.
After his three beautiful sons were born, Ted chose a career in the financial industry to support his family. He continued to practice his music and loved every minute he spent playing.
Ted also loved people. He believed in me with his whole heart. He saw my intuition, my imagination, and my strength, and encouraged me to be myself.
The portrait on this page began with a photograph I took while Ted was receiving chemotherapy at Moffitt Cancer Center. He looked at me with such love in his eyes. During COVID, I picked up colored pencils and drew him from that photograph, hoping to capture the look I never wanted to forget.
I share it here in honor of the music he made, the people he loved, and the love he gave me.
